Kaizer Chiefs news: Giovanni Solinas highlights importance of Khama Billiat scoring in CAF Confederation Cup win over Zimamoto

Chiefs bounced back from their Telkom Knockout defeat to Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates last weekend with a commanding 4-0 victory over Zanzibarian side Zimamoto on Wednesday evening.

The hosts dominated proceedings from the onset but were restricted to just one goal in the first half, as Billiat scored his first goal since Amakhosi's league defeat to Pirates last month.

The Zimbabwean international later went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half to help his team to their biggest win since beating Comoros outfit Volcan de Moroni in the 2016 CAF Champions League preliminary round.

“We dominated the game completely; we did not concede a goal, but we also did not concede chances [for the opponents to score],” said Solinas after the match.

“Yes, I am happy for the number of chances we created and maybe we could have scored more goals, but it’s okay.

“What’s important is that we did not concede, and the players today played good football. This is very important because we’re going to the next game against Golden Arrows with a good mood.”

Along with the team-morale booster, the Italian tactician also welcomed the flurry of goals from dangerman Billiat, who has endured a difficult period of scoring just one goal in his last nine domestic games for the club prior to last night's match.

“It’s very important [for the team to score many goals]. It’s also important, for example, that Billiat scored, because goals help strikers with their confidence,” he noted.

“But today all the players performed very well, and all the players played a very good game tactically and technically.”
