Chiefs cruised to a 4-0 rout of Zanzibarian outfit Zimamoto in their preliminary round first leg tie played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The scoreline could have perhaps been greater had the game not been frequently interrupted by the simulation of the Zimamoto contingent, who notably frustrated Solinas on the sidelines.
“I complained with the assistant referee because after every situation they went down, and we lost five minutes,” bemoaned Solinas.
“When you play in an international game, you need more [time] for play. We are professional, so we need to play like professionals."
Despite taking a healthy lead into the return leg at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City next Tuesday, the Italian is adamant they will continue to play the Kaizer Chiefs way.
“We are Kaizer Chiefs, and we need to play our type of football. So, we’ll try to play attacking football – beautiful football,” he assured.
“At home or away, it doesn’t change anything for us because we follow our philosophy, and also the next game in the second leg we’ll try to win the game. Because we play only to win.
“Kaizer Chiefs competes only to win, so we go there and try to win the game because we need to develop our winning mentality.”
