Assistant coach Mpho Maleka was delighted with his side's performance as Marumo Gallants clinched a vital 2-1 win over AS Vita in a CAF Confederation Cup tie at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.
Midfielder Celimpilo Ngema scored a brace to hand Gallants a crucial advantage in the second preliminary round first-leg clash.
"Overall we're very happy with the team's performance," Maleka said post-match.
"The way we planned to play against AS Vita, the guys followed the game-plan and we can only realise where we need to improve which led to us conceding the goal.
"We played domestically against Kaizer Chiefs and it was the same thing. Now we played against a team again that were down to ten men and it was the same thing.
"We failed to capitalise on our advantage but this win will boost our morale ahead of our next league encounter domestically.
"We're happy with the performance and the guys did well and we can also see where we need to improve but we're proud of the boys."
Gallants face a return leg away to AS Vita in Kinsasha Congo on 22 October.
