Marumo Gallants booked their spot in the Carling Knockout semi-finals with a 1-0 win over defending champions Stellenbosch FC on Sunday.
Notable inclusion by Gallants from Thursday's showing had Phathutshedzo Nange come in, as the Maroons presented an unchanged eleven having beaten the host in league action in midweek.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa got the perfect start after Siyabulela Shai entered in-between the central defence to meet a right-sided cross from Daniel Msendami and nodded in the bottom-corner.
Stellies came inches to restoring parity midway through the first half with a first-time header by Sanele Barns after a floated delivery, but Washington Arubi produced a smart save.
Both teams enjoyed good chances near the end of the half, however were undone by inconsistent finishing and a lack of decisiveness in the attacking compartment.
As the second half resumed, Gallants made no changes but the Maroons decided to introduce Langelihle Phili and sacrificed a certain Kyle Jurgens.
Gallants continued seeing most of the momentum a little into the break and got Sage Stephens to back-peddle and tip Msendami's curling free-kick for a corner-kick.
The reigning champions still kept courage in pursuit of the equaliser before seeing Ashley Cupido head over after meeting a looping cross from the left of the box.
Stellies were a whisker to drawing level later on with a half-volley by Devon Titus following a loose ball outside the box, but Arubi saved.
At the other end, the host nearly got a second through a one-on-one from Thapelo Dhludlu, but he couldn't get the better of Stephens from a decent position.
Marumo did enough to contain the final couple of minutes ahead of fulltime and managed to claim the win that eliminated the defending champions from the tournament.
