Mnguni: Marumo have 15% chance of beating Sundowns

Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Bennett Mnguni believes that they have a strong chance of success in this season's Carling Knockout Cup competition.

Sundowns will face Dan Malesela's Marumo Gallants FC in the semi-finals at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon.

"Every team Dan coaches plays good football, they excel at both attacking and defending as a cohesive unit," Mnguni told KickOff.

"However, against Sundowns, they need to be particularly cautious. A single mistake could be severely punished. In many of their matches, Marumo Gallants have been punished due to lapses in concentration."

"Marumo Gallants need to maintain their focus throughout the game, although that will be a challenge. If they manage to defeat Sundowns on Sunday, they will win the Carling Knockout," Mnguni emphasized.

"I would give Gallants a 15% chance of beating Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday. Games like these are often determined by luck, hard work, and 120% commitment."

Mnguni expressed concern over Gallants' tendency to lose focus, stating, "Today's players often fail to analyze their opponents thoroughly. They don't assess their opponent's strengths and weaknesses, they go into matches somewhat blindly."

To reach the semi-finals, Sundowns convincingly defeated Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 in the quarter-finals, while Marumo Gallants secured a surprising victory over Stellenbosch FC to earn their place in the final, which is set to take place at Orlando Stadium in December 2024.
