Chiefs/Downs Carling tickets latest update

Saturday's Carling Knockout quarterfinal between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs is down to the last five percent of tickets that have been put up on sale.

Chiefs will be the hosts at FNB Stadium for the second time in a match that must have a winner in front of lights at the giant venue.

The game is scheduled to start at 18h00 with emphasis being made on the need for fans to arrive early.

Bertie Grobbelaar, the Stadium Management CEO, highlighted the need for early arrivals to avoid the mess that usually defines big matches half-an-hour before kick-off.

"If you leave home an hour before kickoff then there will be problems," noted Grobbelaar while noting that extra parking around the stadium will be opened.

On the ticket front, only 4 000 were left as of Thursday midday.

A total of 87 364 tickets had been made available for sale, with 8000 reserved for hospitality suites.

This leaves about 78 000 general admission tickets on sale for this fixture, which only attracted 22 800 fans last season.

Saturday's match will be played hours before the start of the Soweto Marathon in the same precinct.

The FNB Stadium has a capacity of 94 700, but lesser tickets are being sold for safety reasons.

There will be road closures around the venue with Golden Highway turned into a one-way with 150 JMPD deployed in strategic points as far as Columbine Avenue and Rifle Range Road.
