If there is a coach that has humbled Mamelodi Sundowns as an underdog, it is Clinton Larsen, and ahead of the Carling Knockout final, he would look back at three games with pride.
Larsen would feel a sense of nostalgia and will be hoping history will repeat itself after he was in charge of Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012 when they edged Sundowns 1-0 in the final of the same tournament - then sponsored by Telkom - following a controversial goal by Joel Mogorosi.

Rolling back the years, Masandawana went into the game with former coach, the late Johan Neeskens, under pressure to secure his job and after defeat in the final, the Dutch tactician was relieved of his duties and was replaced by Pitso Mosimane.
The Tshwane giants were under a turbulence period and did not yet have an all-conquering team, as their attack had Samuel Julies, Eleazar Rodgers and the late Richard Henyekane.
The midfield had Teko Modise, Themba Zwane, and Esrom Nyandoro as the most established players, while Clayton Daniels, Alje Schut, Abel Mabaso, and Tebogo Langerman were in front of goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands in defence.
Celtic had the likes of Lyle Lakay and Thabo Nthethe in the line-up, who would later join Sundowns.
Before another cup upset in the MTN8 in August 2015, Larsen masterminded perhaps his best game in the PSL as a coach after his Celtic side, in his second spell, humiliated Mosimane's outfit 5-0 in a league game in April 2015, that took The Brazilians out of a league title race with Kaizer Chiefs.
They were a formidable team then, as Khama Billiat, Percy Tau, Zwane, and Modise were in their attack, with the likes of Bongani Zungu on the bench.

However, Larsen had also assembled a great team as Ganbadinho Mhango scored a brace with a goal apiece from Lerato Lamola and two players who later joined, in Musa Nyatama and Thapelo Morena.
The thumping win over Sundowns gave Siwelele much confidence in the upcoming season (2015/16) under the ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder, after they eliminated the Chloorkop-based side in the MTN8 quarter-finals on penalties, who had strengthened the team with the likes of Leonardo Castro and Keagan Dolly.
This was the same season The Brazilians won the league title, Telkom Knockout, and CAF Champions League.
