Having given Kaizer Chiefs a sense of hope following the calamity of last season, the start of the Carling Knockout presents Nasreddine Nabi with his first trophy attempt since taking over.
Nabi has taken over on the back of a barren trophy run that has stretched all the way back to May 2015, thus making the mention of trophies tantalizing at Chiefs.

So long and frustrating has the subject of winning trophies at the club been in recent times that they have missed the trophy target on 34 occasions.
Number 35 is the Carling Knockout and has Nabi in charge.
"The fact that we are in the process of building a team does not stop us from having a winning mentality," emphasises Nabi when asked about the Carling Knockout trophy opportunity.
"Game by game we have a winning mentality, whether it is a cup or the championship.
"We don't want to hide behind the fact that we are building and then the result is secondary.
"That is not it.
"What I'm promising the fans is that in all the games, regardless of what game it is, we are going to make sure that we do our best and give a good result," says Nabi.
The length of Amakhosi's wait has come with misses in the league nine times, then MTN8 (seven times), Telkom Knockout (six times) and Nedbank Cup (nine times).

They have also been involved in the CAF Champions League twice and once in the CAF Confederation Cup without going up the podium to lift the trophy.
Yet for all their troubles over the last decade, the Soweto giants remain the dominant club in the Carling Knockout (League Cup) with 13 titles, though they last won it in 2010.
