Ex-Chiefs forward: ‘Chiefs don’t need experiments but an experienced coach with solutions’

Kaizer Chiefs have been encouraged to turn to Congolese coach Florent Ibenge in the bid to find solutions to the troubles that have now left them without a trophy in eight years.

Chiefs spent the past season with Arthur Zwane in charge, but he delivered nothing on the trophy front in his first full season in charge with AmaKhosi finishing fifth and losing the most games in a single season through their PSL history.

AmaKhosi lost 12 out of 30 league games which is the highest number of defeats in a single season and uncharacteristic of the club from Naturena they also ended with a negative goal difference, the second time that this has ever happened in their PSL history.

"Florent Ibenge has always been a man of solutions everywhere he has gone and I'm confident that he will deliver the same at Kaizer Chiefs," points former Chiefs striker Kabamba Musasa.

Musasa, Chiefs

Musasa arrived at Chiefs in July 2002 from FC Saint Eloi-Lupopo and spent two-and-a-half years at Naturena before leaving for Turkey.

With Ibenge he has been with Al Hilal since last year but the ongoing conflict between rival forces in Sudan has been a cause for concern about his future at the club.

"When Ibenge came to coach in Congo he did a great job for both the national team and AS Vita.

"The plus about Ibenge is that he is a good person who will improve players and while here many players went overseas because of him.

"He is a good coach who you will give the responsibility of leading your team without worries.

"Ibenge is a big coach who has won trophies with the national team and at club level so his profile suits Chiefs perfectly.

"He has also coached in France and China so there is absolutely no need to doubt his pedigree because he has been there and done that.

"With the problems that Chiefs have now they don't need experiments but an experienced coach with a proven pedigree and full of solutions and Ibenge is that man.

"Ibenge can coach Chiefs to success because he is a big coach.

"Chiefs will be number one again under Ibenge and be competing in Africa.

Florent Ibenge

"Chiefs fans have suffered enough, and they now need a man who will lead them back to glory like he did with AS Vita.

"AS Vita is just as big a club as Chiefs and delivered league titles and cups while he was there.

"The man then went to Morocco and won trophies there.

"Chiefs have not been winning trophies for a long time and they need to get that fixed instead of continuing with experiments.

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - FEBRUARY 25: Arthur Z

"I don't have any problems with Arthur Zwane because he is my friend and I played with him, but you cannot compare him to Ibenge in terms of coaching.

"If Chiefs are keen to have success again then they should look to Ibenge because he is a proven coach.

"I don't think he has any issues with coming to South Africa especially considering all the problems in Sudan," says Musasa.
