Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Sergio Dos Santos says the club will first have to sign a captain before adding any new players to their squad.
According to Dos Santos, Amakhosi need a Martin Odegaard type of player for their squad to have shape, lamenting how the sleeping giants of South African football currently don't have a leader in their squad.

"Who is the leader at Kaizer Chiefs? Who is the Kaizer Chiefs player with leadership qualities? They don't have anybody," Santos points out, in an interview with KickOff.
"That's why they change the captains all the time because they are trying to see if they can't find somebody suitable. But if you can't find somebody with leadership qualities on the field of play, then how are you going to find a captain, because those things go together?
At the moment, there are too many young players in the team.
"And those who are supposed to be senior players in the team behave worse than the younger players," adds the diminutive former Amakhosi coach.
Dos Santos says the Soweto giants need to sign a player who is not a Kaizer Chiefs product but who has already shown his dedication and commitment at another club.
"They must sign players with the potential to lead the ship.
"A good example is the captain of Arsenal Odegaard, he leads by example and never argues with the referees, but you see him talking to his players a lot. He is giving them information all the time, he is guiding them, and he is leading them.
"And, as a player, he lets his feet do the talking on the field, he leads by example, and he doesn't show that he is the captain by opening his mouth.
"Instead, he is showing you he is the captain by leading by example, and that's what Kaizer Chiefs needs.
"But at the moment because Kaizer Chiefs don't have a natural leader, they're now giving the armband to anyone because they are looking for somebody, and that somebody is not good enough as a player.

"And if you are not good enough as a player, how are you going to get the respect of the other players who are better than you?
"That is the problem at Kaizer Chiefs."
