Lilepo's situation at Chiefs clarified

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has offered some clarity on what the best position for January Glody Lilepo, who has hit the ground running, is.

Lilepo arrived at Chiefs in the most recent transfer window for just under R10 million and has had an immediate impact, scoring three goals and providing an assist from his first five appearances.

Since his arrival, though, there has been some confusion on how best the tricky attacker could be utilized.  In a goalless draw against Cape Town City on Tuesday, he played as many as three different positions.

Nabi has now come out to offer some clarity.

"I think the first position for him is a winger – right, left, but really, he is a winger," said Nabi during the post-match press conference.

"Sometimes in France, he played as a second striker at Valenciennes, but that's not his first position."

Meanwhile, the former Young Africans coach expressed his frustration after his side's struggles for goals against Cape Town City at Athlone Stadium.

"Today [Wednesday], in the last 20 minutes, we pushed [Pule] Mmodi on the wing, and we pushed more players into the 18 [area]. I think you observed it.

"We continued to create more chances, but we couldn't score. It's not dramatic, but it's very bad because it's not the first time we have a chance to go up [the table], and we drop points.

"If you remember, at the start of the season and now, the same mistakes are continuing. You have a chance to go up [the table], but you lose this chance.

"Sometimes you need evaluation on why and what is the problem because today, the normal score, 3-0 or 4-0," he said.

In addition to Lilepo on the wings, Amakhosi also have Mmodi, Wandile Duba, Tebogo Potsane, and Ashley Du Preez.
