Sobering question for Nabi: 'As a coach, what are you going to coach?'

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is now six league matches without a victory, has received sage advice from no less an ex-star than the formerly irrepressible Jabu Mahlangu.

The Soweto giants' latest setback came in the form of a 2-1 defeat to Marumo Gallants at home last Saturday.

That was the 11th Betway Premiership loss of the season for the side, who have now slipped down to ninth on the standings with three games left.

Alarmingly, they are also without a victory from the last six in the league, and things could go from bad to worse considering they have arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United, and Polokwane City up next.

Reviewing Amakhosi's latest result, Mahlangu has pointed out where he thinks the head coach's focus should be.

"In the remaining games, they will go into them lacking confidence first," Mahlangu said on SABC Sport.

"Sekhukhune is doing well, which means they have more confidence than Chiefs. Orlando Pirates have also been doing well, which means they will also have more confidence (on Saturday).

"So, Chiefs are already on the back foot.

"So, I think at Chiefs right now, as a coach, what are you going to coach? I think now Nabi should just focus on the players' mindset.

"Because, as far as coaching goes, you spoke about this the whole season, it did not happen. So now, it's important for them to get points to get into the Top Eight.

"So I think the coaches now have to focus mostly on the psyche of the players, more than the coaching itself," added the former fan-favourite.

Having qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup while still in with a chance of winning the Nedbank Cup, Nabi will be keen to use the remaining games in the league to build a foundation for next season.
