With the missing of chances being the story of Kaizer Chiefs so far this season under Nasreddine Nabi, the reason behind this habit has been explained.
Chiefs' eighth-placed standing on the log may not be a true reflection of their efforts after 20 matches, just three points behind third-placed Stellenbosch FC.

They have been guilty of missing glaring opportunities, with the likes of Ranga Chivaviro and Pule Mmodi regularly firing blanks in front of goal.
Nabi's troops could have felt they did not deserve to lose against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby last month and in the subsequent match, a 2-2 draw against AmaZulu FC, created plenty of chances but could not convert, as an example from recent matches.
However, there has been a number of similar encounters where they squandered opportunities that looked difficult to miss than to score.
Even though Amakhosi boosted their midfield with the signing of Thabo Cele, Khan believes they lack a playmaker who can slow down their attacks in the final third, for better composure in finishing and creating more space.
"I hear people say... there's a player I groomed who plays for Pirates, Patrick Maswanganyi, 'he spends too much time on the ball'. I disagree. When he does that, you see a different Pirates. You watch Pirates over the weekend (in a loss to Marumo Gallants) when he wasn't playing, that high-intensity, high-octane, non-stopping football and the opposition can deal with that easily," Khan explained on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.
"What the defence don't like is when you use the ball to move them. It's not just moving the ball, you move the ball to move the defence and then you create those gaps that you can penetrate. That is something I don't think Chiefs is doing.

"[Mamelodi] Sundowns is doing it effectively. They are patient in the build-up, they wait... When it comes to finishing, you have to make sure your players don't use all the high octane energy too soon, because when they get to the last third, there's nothing left to finish. You saw Chiefs misses, that's because players are so hyped up," said the Stars of Africa Academy football director.
The Soweto giants have a player like Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, who is adept at slowing the game down, but it appears Nabi prefers attacking through the wings.
