'This is no time for the Chiefs fans to start fighting'

Mlungisi Ngubane says expecting the current Kaizer Chiefs team to beat Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday was a little too much ask.

The Amakhosi was humiliated 4-0 by a star-studded Sundowns in the Carling Knockout quarter-final at FNB Stadium.

Again, Chiefs coach Nabi decided to throw the likes of Mduduzi Tshabalala, Samkelo Zwane, and Wandile Duba in the deep and started experienced campaigners like Ashley Du Preez and Christian Saile on the bench.

"This is no time for the Chiefs fans to start fighting; they must allow the coach to work with what he has until the signing of players he wants," Ngubane tells KickOff.

"You can't expect this current Kaizer Chiefs team to beat the national team of South Africa.

"They should accept that Sundowns is a national team of South Africa, the AFCON semi-finalists...Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Teboho Mokoena, and there's a top Brazilian striker in Ribeiro, plus top Namibian international Peter Shalulile, and also Iqraam Rayners who is one of the top players in South Africa at the moment, and is now a Bafana player.

"Talking Sundowns you talking about quality? The team they used against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday it's their best team Sundowns."

Ngubane says the fact that Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi suddenly decided to start Teboho Mokoena showed how much he is wary of Chiefs.

"You can't dare not take Chiefs seriously; the name Kaizer Chiefs alone makes the opposition coach's spine shiver, they'll remain a big team in South Africa. You cannot underestimate Chiefs.

"The fans who were throwing stuff into the pitch and invading the pitch it's people who don't watch or follow football. They should accept that Sundowns are the strongest team in South Africa at the moment, followed closely by Pirates.

"On Saturday, Chiefs were not beaten, but they were disciplined, their youngsters who got bright future in football they were ordinary on Saturday.

"Samukelo Zwane was disappointing, Njabulo Blom was disappointing, and Gaston Sirino was fighting with opponents and match officials."
