South American standing ovation for Sirino

Gaston Sirino has been given a stamp of approval from South America for the way he has been able to turn himself into the heartbeat of attacks at the start of his time at Kaizer Chiefs.

Sirino has stood up to send reminders about his quality since arriving at Chiefs after becoming surplus to requirements at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Those that were in doubt have been silenced with the 33-year-old leading the offensive midfield with assurance.

Two goals and three assists in four matches from Sirino have provided plenty of the reasons why the Soweto giants have been able to penetrate their opponents under Nasreddine Nabi.

The creativity load and part of the scoring burden will be on the Uruguayan South African if the side is to click this season.

"Gaston is a very focused player and always trains 100%," former Sundowns captain Ricardo Nascimento tells KickOff.com from Brazil.

Nascimento and Sirino were together at Chloorkop for four years standing out as the most notable South Americans at the club during that time. 

"I had no doubt that he will do well at Kaizer Chiefs because he is an excellent player.

"Look, man, Gaston is a very focused and winning player.

"When he sets his mind to something, he will do his best to achieve it.

"He is a winning player.

"I don't even need to comment on his technical quality.

"He will help Kaizer Chiefs a lot," says Nascimento, who is now retired and back home in Brazil.

Sirino won seven league titles plus two Nedbank Cups, Telkom Knockout, MTN8, and the African Football League throughout his time at Sundowns, before moving on a free transfer.
