Former referee and PSL general manager Ace Ngcobo has explained why Kaizer Chiefs should have been awarded a penalty during Saturday's Nedbank Cup semi-final defeat to Orlando Pirates.
Amakhosi were sent crashing out of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat to the Buccaneers at FNB Stadium.
Goals goal came from a Kermit Erasmus opener and an extra-time winner from Sandile Mthethwa after Chiefs' Yusuf Maart had levelled the score in the second half.
One of the biggest talking points from the encounter was in the 21st minute of the match, in which Reeve Frosler's free-kick was blocked by Pirates' Kabelo Dlamini, who had peeled off the wall and appeared to block the ball with his elbow inside the box.

Although referee Abongile Tom waved play-on, Ngcobo has given an opposite verdict on the incident.
"There was a whole lot of talk about why the referee didn't take action against a player that peels off the defensive wall," said on SuperSport TV's ExtraTime.
"But when that ball is played, that player is still on the wall. It is when they take the second kick that he is already away from the way, so we rule that one out. There was no question there.
"But look at that, he has made his body bigger, he has got hi arm above armpit level, the ball touches his elbow in that instance. He is inside the penalty area, that should have been award as a penalty.

"What we consider these days, in terms of the laws of the game, is not whether there was intention to handle the ball, [but rather] are you making your body bigger? is the arm at a position that pose a risk to yourself of handling the ball? those are the two concentration the referee should look at.
"At that moment [in the game], look at where the arms are, he [Dlamini] is not looking at the ball, he's making his body bigger and in that instance he is preventing the ball from flying true towards people that could have headed to goal. That should have been a penalty."
Ngcobo's analysis will provide little comfort to Chiefs side set to extend end for an eight-year long run without a single piece of silverware to show.
Amakhosi will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they take on SuperSport United on Saturday at Royal Bafokeng.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
