Zwane’s coaching pedigree questioned, identified as part of problem at Chiefs

Arthur Zwane has been identified as being part of the problems that are crippling Kaizer Chiefs as the club heads towards the end of yet another season of blanks.

An authoritative voice who was teammates with Zwane through his time as a player at Chiefs feels Zwane must take responsibility as head for what has happened.

"I mean do we blame Arthur for what is currently happening or those who appointed someone who is inexperienced to coach at that level," asks Mohammed Ouseb talking to KickOff.com.

Ouseb arrived at Chiefs from Namibia at the start of the 1998/99 season from Namibia.

In his last season (2000/01) at Chiefs before leaving for SFK Lyn in Norway he was teammates with Zwane after the lanky winger signed from Tembisa Classic.

Through that campaign under Muhsin Ertugral, Ouseb put in a shift of 25 appearances and scored thrice while Zwane played 22 games and scored twice.

The Namibian played 86 games through his three years with AmaKhosi, contributed to winning trophies and speaks with authority having spent his time at the club on the field instead of the bench or stands.

"If we must agree to give him a chance, then let him continue but then we shouldn't expect miracles.

"Yes, obviously the players are to be blamed too, they should take responsibility too for the negative results cause of missing chances and schoolboy errors in the defence causing goals.

"But then is Arthur big enough a coach to change the situation?

"I don't think so.

"It can be concluded that Arthur's first season in charge was very disappointing.

"If I have to rate it out of ten, I'll give him five," says the 1998/99 KICK OFF Footballer of the Season.

Zwane has sunk Chiefs to their worst campaign in the defeats column with 11 league loses – which is the most that the club has ever suffered in a single season in the PSL era years.

He has found himself with his back to the ropes in recent weeks after four defeats in the last five games and while he has the sympathy of some based on that he is a local coach, some sections of the club's fan base is frustrated as was evidenced by what happened on Saturday.

"This situation we are in needs a lot of debate.

"I can talk about Arthur's inexperience, but we have had experienced coaches too that performed below expectations.

"So, do we break the bank and bring in someone else and give that person a chance or do we continue with Arthur for another season?

"With the previous coaches who were sacked were they given enough chance to bring out the best?

"For me personally, like I said before, coach Arthur has been there in the set-up, from development to being part of the first team's technical stuff before he became head coach.

"Isn't that enough chance or does he deserve to be given a chance like someone who is new to whole Kaizer Chiefs set-up?" says Ouseb.
