Former Magesi FC head coach Clinton Larsen has provided a detailed explanation for his departure from the club.
He announced his resignation during a post-match interview following the team's 3-0 defeat to the Carling All Stars at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
"I felt that the time was right to step away. I have done my part, including winning a cup, but in the league, things were not going well. I decided to allow the club to bring in someone who can improve the situation," Larsen told KickOff.

"I am grateful to the club for the opportunity and I enjoyed my two years there. This is part of football; coaches come and go all the time. Coaches get fired, and some resign.
"I think everyone at the club, including the chairman, is still shocked by the news, so I haven't had a chance to sit down with the club since my resignation.
"I have officially resigned and submitted my letter, so there's no turning back now, this is my final decision. There are 21 games left in the season, and I'm giving the club a chance to take the team to greater heights.
"Lifting a cup is different from performing in the league. Perhaps we paid the price in the league for our cup success. We lack the depth that other teams have, so we had to field our strongest team in every match, which has taken a toll on the players.
"Nonetheless, the boys performed well in the cup, we were fortunate at times to win those matches. However, in the league, things didn't pan out as we had hoped. There were games where I felt we deserved more, like against SuperSport United, Chippa United, Sekhukhune United, and Royal AM. That's just how football goes sometimes.
"You can play well and lose, or play poorly and win. You just have to roll with it."
Currently, Larsen is being linked to clubs such as Richards Bay FC and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
"I'm not sure where I'm heading next, at the moment, there are no offers on my table. I'm often linked to clubs when coaches leave because it's normal for available coaches to be associated with such moves.
"The Arrows coach recently left, and so did the Richards Bay coach, but to be honest, I haven't spoken with any of those clubs.
"Right now, I'm unemployed, so I'm available."
Magesi FC are currently at the bottom of the Premiership table, with only one win in nine league matches.
