Magesi targeting Sundowns' forgotten man

PSL newcomers Magesi FC are showing they are not in the elite division to add to the numbers, and in the latest development at the club, Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi is being targeted.

Magesi have ventured into the transfer market in a bid to bolster their squad for what promises to be a grueling 2024/25 season.

The Limpopo-based outfit has already signed striker Gift Motupa and former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota in preparation for their maiden appearance in the topflight next term.

In addition, Magesi have since roped in former Bafana Bafana midfielder Papi Zothwane to add to the technical team expertise, with Clinton Larsen set to remain as head coach after leading them to promotion from the second tier.

According to a source close to the newcomers, the club is now targeting the signature of Seabi, with bringing him back to Limpopo said to be a priority.

The lanky midfielder was previously on the books of Polokwane City.

"Seabi is part of the players on the shopping list. The club will unveil all their new signings next week after concluding almost all the deals by this coming weekend," said the source.

The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Sekhukhune United from Sundowns and could welcome the opportunity given the embarrassment of riches in the Tshwane giants' midfield department.

Meanwhile, Magesi have since parted ways with veteran administrator Peter Koutroulis after he helped them gain promotion to the Premiership.
