Lorch thanks Mokwena after MOTM award

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thembinkosi Lorch has thanked head coach Rulani Mokwena for helping him settle following his move from Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns went through to the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup after beating Maritzburg United 2-0 courtesy of a late brace by Lorch.

Lorch has revealed that Mokwena was hard on him at training for being in good scoring positions but not shooting enough.

"First of all I'd like to thank the man above you know for the talent that he gave me and I promise that I will honour it," Lorch told SuperSport TV after he received his Man of the Match award.

"Ja, I think the coach was hard on me during the week for me not scoring the goals. I'm getting into the box but I'm not shooting enough, he was hard on me and I'm happy today I managed to score two goals.

When asked about his two goals on the night, he added, "It's from training. When Zungu got the ball, I had to be in the half space, he's got that pass you know, it's from training.

"And the second goal it's a cut-back and it fell to me and I had to finish it."

The Bafana Bafana forward went on and thanked the supporters and Mokwena for helping him settle at Sundowns following his January switch from the Soweto giants.

"For me, firstly I have to thank them for welcoming me in the team, I'd like to thank the coach for being patient with me. It wasn't easy for me coming from Pirates to Sundowns. "

"I had to settle in and ja thanks to the guys," he added.
