Orbit bounce back as Durban City move top

Durban City 3-0 Leruma United

Durban City moved of the Motsepe Foundation Champions standings after defeating relegation-threatened Leruma United 3-0 on Saturday.

Samkelo Maseko was the star on the day after bagging a brace while Saziso Magawana also got his name on the score-sheet.

The victory extends the Team of Choice unblemished run in all competitions to five matches, while Leruma find themselves in 15th position.

Black Leopards 1-1 Milford Stallions

Milford Stallions surrendered top after a 1-1 draw against Black Leopards in a top-five battle on Saturday.

The barren run continued for the KwaZulu-Natal based side, who are now winless from the last three matches in the league.

Lidoda Duvha steadily remained in the upper-tier bracket despite going four matches in the division without maximum points and are five points adrift the top.

JDR Stars 1-0 Hungry Lions

JDR Stars' pursuit for a strong end to the first half of the year continued with a 1-0 win over Hungry Lions to go second on the table.

Furthermore, the Hammerboys snatched a third successive win in the league with the decisive effort coming from Ishmael Wadi who pounced on a rebounded penalty effort to secure victory.

Back to the drawing board then for Di Tau, whose string of victories in all competitions come to an end to sit ninth on the standings.

Highbury FC 1-0 Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs' disappointing run of form extended to nine matches following a 1-0 defeat to Highbury FC.

The Urban Warriors' last win dates all the way back to September thus overall have won just twice from 13 matches played and lie just a point ahead of the bottom-two.

Highbury, though, are able to get back on the winning path having lost both of their recent two encounters in the division.

Baroka FC 4-2 Venda Football Academy

Baroka FC registered back-to-back victories for the first time under coach Joel Masutha after seeing off bottom-placed Venda Football Academy.

The relegation-troubled charges were quick out of the blocks through Banele Gama, but Masutha hit back in quick succession courtesy of Thuso Mogale and Clyde Combi,

Nambian Ananias Gebhardt and Bonginkosi Makume got in the act too before well-travelled Judas Moseamedi gifted the counterparts a second as the clash concluded.

Casric Stars 1-0 University of Pretoria

Casric Stars registered yet another win in the Championship to cement their top-half position through a narrow 1-0 victory over University of Pretoria.

AmaTuks' inconsistent run of form continues and remain in the mid-table, with a second half finish by Sphamandla Mlilo inflicting the pain on them.

Pretoria Callies 2-3 Orbit College

Orbit College ended a two-match winless run to cement third spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship through a thrilling 3-2 victory over Pretoria Callies on Sunday.

The boys from the North West province went to the break leading by a slender margin against the Romans who were firmly on the back-foot.

More damage were inflicted by the visiting charges and subsequently went on to claim a comprehensive victory against Callies.

Upington City 1-3 Kruger United

Upington City's winless run of form extended to seven matches and dropped in the bottom-half following a 3-1 loss to the resurgent Kruger United.

The debutants in the division were buoyant from the get-go thus raced to a two-goal lead at the break, with Givemore Khupe pulling one back though the visitors went on to claim full control.

Kruger, who had a difficult start to the campaign, are now seven-matches without defeat in all competitions and on course to finish the year on a high.
