Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brian Baloyi says Itumeleng Khune no loss

The Phefeni Glamour Boys take on the Buccaneers at Moses Mabhida Stadium in what is expected to be a thriller, but Chiefs will be without Khune who is still out with an ankle injury.

Baloyi, who played for Chiefs between 1993 and 2004 before leaving to join Mamelodi Sundowns, is confident that Reyaad Pieterse and Brilliant Khuzwayo are more than capable of doing the job in the final.

“Based on what I have seen of the two young goalkeepers, I think they have learned a lot from Itu and the goalkeeper coach,” Baloyi tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“We have seen when both of them have been given a chance to play that they can do the job and I think any of them is capable of playing on Saturday. It is not a big problem that Itu is not there, not at all.

“They are not at Itu’s level and everybody knows that but they are good enough to play at the highest level,” Baloyi continues.

In terms of his preference, ‘Spiderman’ says he would pick Pieterse to play in the Final ahead of Khuzwayo.

Baloyi explains: “Seeing that Pieterse played against Pirates last season (15 March 2014) and Chiefs won, I would give him the chance to play.

“He’s felt what it means to play in an official Derby match and based on that, he has the upper hand over Khuzwayo in terms of this match.”
