My Dream Team: Brian Baloyi

Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Brian Baloyi has selected his Dream Team made of up of his former teammates and opponents.

The Alexandra-born shot-stopper achieved almost everything there is to achieve in the PSL, contributing to a few cups while still at Chiefs through his penalty shootout heroics.

In 1998, Baloyi took Bafana to the Africa Cup of Nations final in Burkina Faso, where they lost to Egypt, while he was also part of the squad that competed at the FIFA World Cup in France that same year.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper has selected a strong Dream Team of players he played with both as teammates and as opponents, a team he feels could have won not only domestically, but also on the continent.

"We could have easily won the Champions League with this team," Baloyi tells snl24.com/kickoff regarding his selections.

"The coach would have been Phillipe Troussier. As much as Jeff Butler was the coach who signed me as a young boy, the style of play that Troussier introduced to us was something that most players and people never understood at the time."

Baloyi opted to included himself in his own Dream Team as he felt he was a very good reader of the game.

"My biggest weapon was my mental state, I knew how to motivate myself. I knew how to hype myself, and my leadership qualities on the field that I learnt from people like Neil Tovey, Lucas Radebe... and I was a very good reader of the game," he says.

"And for me, I understood a lot of times that for us to win, people that are playing in front of me they are very important so I was able to advise them to play to their best as well."
