My Dream Team: Jabu Mahlangu

Kaizer Chiefs and SA football favourite Jabu Mahlangu has dropped his Dream Team, brimming with quality players that could win any match.

He may have spent only five seasons with Chiefs but Mahlangu – better known as Jabu Pule – is already regarded as a legend by the club's supporters.

'Shuffle' was a very important member of the club's 'Operation Vat Alles' team that won almost every trophy on offer in 2001.

Now 39 and working as a television pundit amongst other things, Mahlangu shares a few memories of some of his former teammates and teases about one of his centre-back choices.

"Steve Lekoelea knows him very well... and Pollen Ndlanya," he tells snl24.com/kickoff. "They were both playing for Pirates [laughs]!"

Pule also shared a special tribute to Stanton Fredericks, his former Amakhosi and international teammate.

"I remember when Stanton Fredericks signed for Chiefs, I was so excited and looking forward to playing with him and sharing a dressing room," Mahlangu says.

"I went to ask the late Chiefs kit manager Mr Jackson Mokoena – may he rest in peace – to give 'Stiga' jersey number 10. That tells you everything about the level of respect I had for him."

Mahlangu's skill and flair for the game of football won the hearts of many soccer fans, and not just those in the black and gold of Chiefs.

Having also played for the likes of Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Bafana Bafana and Bundesliga side SV Mattersberg, let's find out which 11 of his former teammates has made his Dream Team.
