Matsatsantsa lost this season's Telkom Knockout to Erick Tinkler's Cape Town City in December last year, naming the former Citizens manager as their new man in charge from next season.
SuperSport now have one last shot at silverware this campaign when they lock horns with Orlando Pirates at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday in a repeat of last year's Nedbank Cup final.
And assistant coach Tembo, who was in charge for the club’s recent CAF Confederation Cup ties owing to Stuart Baxter’s national team responsibilities, knows his side are at risk of ending the season empty-handed and is desperate not to lose a second final in the same season.
''I think we’ve got to worry more what we have achieved and what we have yet to achieve this season,'' said Tembo.
''We went to the Telkom Knockout final and we lost, and I think it’s very important as well in terms of players they realise that, as far as we have gone to two cup finals, but we haven't won anything yet.
''I think psychologically we will be looking at it that way, that we need to win something this season and this gives us a very good opportunity to try and win silverware, and still possibly go through to the quarter-finals of the Confed Cup. I think that will be a success for us.''
The 46-year-old feels Baxter’s absence in the dugout has not affected his side’s preparations for the final, and thanked the outgoing coach for having the belief in him to continue his work in recent weeks.
''Coach Stuart is very professional coach and I've learn a lot from him since he arrived at the club,'' Tembo said.
''He has put in a very professional structure which has allowed me to to work well and try and take over whenever he's not around, but at the same time you could see the result haven't changed. He's always around. He's always phone call away and we've always worked well together.
''I really appreciate the opportunity which I got from him, to say 'you can lead the team in my absence’. I think it’s all because of the work he has put in that we have been getting results, and I'm really happy with that.''
