Coach leaves Pirates for FIFA

Orlando Pirates could be looking for a new Head of Youth Development after parting ways with Cayl Coetsee.

The 39-year-old coach joined Pirates four years ago after taking over the reins from Augusto Palacios.

Coetsee is reported to be on his way to join one of FIFA's coaching structures where he served before joining the Mighty Buccaneers.

The former University of Pretoria youth coach helped the Soweto giants develop the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng, Boitumelo Radiopane, and Mohau Nkota after being promoted to the senior team.

Coetsee has confirmed his departure from Orlando Pirates to further his coaching career elsewhere.

"I have indeed left Orlando Pirates for a new job opportunity with FIFA", Coetsee tells KickOff.

Pirates suffered a major blow during the off-season after assistant coach Sergio Almenara resigned from the club due to family issues.

Pirates have since moved to appoint Siyabonga Mpontshane as part of the technical team and help with training goalkeepers at the Soweto-based team.

Mpontshane's contract with the Mighty Buccaneers expired at the end of last season, only to be spotted at the Orlando stadium last week going through paces with the goalkeepers.

The Buccaneers are yet to confirm Almenara's replacement, while Mandla Ncikazi continue to serve at the club as assistant coach.
