Golden Arrows and Chippa United couldn't be separated after playing to a goalless draw in the Betway Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Ayabulela Maxwele, Thabani Zuke, Sbonelo Cele and Siyanda Mthanti set out the changes for Arrows from the win over Kaizer Chiefs, with Stanley Nwabali, Boy Madingwana and Bienvenu Eva Nga seeing the alterations of the Chilli Boys.
There were very few moments between the two in the opening stages, with both keen to maintain their winning run and consolidate their league positions.
Chippa didn't apply great numbers in attack but were content to sit back, absorbed the pressure thrown at them and play on the counter-attack.
Manqoba Mngqithi's men were enterprising and even drew out goalkeeper Nwabali to thwart a fast-paced attacking move.
It became pretty close towards the end of the first half with the Chilli Boys threatening the opener from a tight angle by Ayabulela Magqwaka.
Coach Mngqithi produced a double substitution at halftime in Brandon Theron for Maxwele before Sazi Gumbi made way for Nhlanhla Zwane.
Abafana Besthende nearly got in front minutes after the break when a cross from the right rolled in the box and picked out Knox Mutizwa who clattered the upright.
The chances remained few and far between amidst the tight, compact battle where a lot of the play centred around the middle of the park.
Arrows threw more personnel from the dugout in the form of Kagiso Malinga in the place of Mutizwa before Zuke stepped on for Lwanda Mbanjwa.
Nwabali proved decisive in the dying minutes with a telling intervention to keep Abafana Besthende breaking the deadlock as it finished goalless.
