Kaizer Chiefs rallied back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Magesi FC in their Betway Premiership clash on Wednesday night.
Chiefs made five changes following their narrow loss against SuperSport United, as Yusuf Maart and Njabulo Blom replaced the injured Edson Castillo and suspended Inacio Miguel, alongside first starts for Mfundo Vilakazi, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Given Msimango.
Magesi had a dream start after Wonderboy Makhubu gave them the lead within the first six minutes with a free header from a corner by John Mokone.
Amakhosi were fired up to make a comeback and on 17 minutes Mduduzi Shabalala had a chance to level matters with a low strike in the box that was smothered on the line by goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.
Nasreddine Nabi's charges increased the tempo and frequency of their attacks and just before the half-hour mark, Ranga Chivaviro had a good chance after a cross by Vilakazi, who did all the work on the right flank but Chivaviro directed his header straight at Chivaviro.
With the Glamour Boys camped in Dikwena's half, Shabalala was the latest to have a chance on the stroke of half-time with a powerful shot that was repelled by Chipezeze.
Nabi made a double change at half-time as he brought on Gaston Sirino and Ashley Du Preez in places of Ngcobo and Chivaviro.
Sirino lifted Amakhosi's game as ten minutes later he came close to getting an assist with a precise cross towards the unmarked Bradley Cross, who headed just wide.
Magesi, however, became compact at the back after that as they frustrated Chiefs and 18 minutes before time Edmore Chirambadare doubled the lead for Clinton Larsen's men against his old team with a free-kick on the edge of the box that sneaked in at the bottom corner.
The Soweto giants were spirited as Shabalala finally pulled a goal back five minutes later with a strike in the box.
Amakhosi made a quick turnaround as Shabalala made it 2-2 just a minute later and got his brace with a low drive from a second ball in the box.
The game was on the edge in the dying minutes, with Chiefs having the momentum but they could take their chances, as the sides shared the spoils.
