Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says players are happy to stay at the club even if they are not playing

Motaung is currently in talks with various clubs to loan out some of the players who either spend their time twiddling their thumbs on the bench or in the stands. The challenge, though, is that they are those who would rather stay sitting on the bench instead of seeking game time elsewhere.

“Even players that we wanted to loan [out], some don't want to leave. I don't know why, Chiefs is like heaven I think.

“Even a player that you feel needs game time it's painful for them to leave. But at the end of the day, we can't deprive players of exposing themselves. I mean a player is as good as his last game.

“If players are not playing you don't take pride and say 'I got a Porsche it's in the garage I'm not driving it'.

“The car wants to move, you can't be paying players that are not playing because we are paying them to work and express themselves.

“So it becomes a bit difficult, but others don't want to leave even if you say here is an opportunity for you.”

Motaung added: “But if clubs want players from us we do open doors to loan them out. Celtic approached us for a defender and we gave them Lorenzo Gordinho and he is playing.

“Also it's benefiting us because our players are somewhere in other clubs competing and it's to our our benefit.”
