Leopards are back in the First Division where only three foreigners can be registered by the club, meaning Nigerian striker Joshua Obaje, Malawian defender Harry Nyirenda, DR Congo midfielder Jean Munganga and the Zimbabwean pair of Abbas Amidu and Victor Kamhuka could all be leaving due to foreign quota issues.
“My intention is to win promotion straight back to the PSL and my plan is to bring a defender from Ghana, a Nigerian striker and a French goalkeeper,” he says.
“I am also aware that Leopards already had five other foreigners before I came here, so what I will do is bring all eight foreign players together and then decide on the three that I will keep.
“Though I want to give everyone a chance, I already have an idea of what I want. I want to work with players that can help me fulfill my objective of winning promotion straight back to the PSL.
“I also want to have my squad sorted out by the time we start training on July 3 so that I start working with players who understand what we want to achieve as a team from the word go.”
The Serbian will also be bringing in his own assistant – who is currently working in Zambia – plus a goalkeeper coach who is currently in his homeland.
With Papic recruiting his preferred technical expertise, Ghana goalkeeper coach Edward Ansah will not be returning to the club.
The highly-rated Ansah, who previously worked as the Black Stars keeper coach, joined the club halfway through 2012/13 and was already a frustrated man before the end of the season as he merely trained the keepers and had no power in recommending who would play on the day.
