Lucas Radebe questions Kaizer Chiefs' quality and character

Amakhosi look likely to end the season without silverware as they trail Absa Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 13 points with seven matches left.

The league champions reached the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout finals, but suffered early exits in the Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League.

“It's a bit disappointing for Kaizer,” says Radebe.

“I know Steve Komphela is under pressure because this is the team that is used to winning trophies and competing and winning a lot of games. To see them not winning and not playing well, it says something.”

'Roo' continues: “When (you) see people like (new signing, William) Twala going straight into the team, it means something because we used to have pride when you wear the Chiefs jersey. You just don’t come straight in the team. In order to get in there you had to sweat, actually work hard to deserve the jersey.

“You look at the quality of the players. Have they enough quality within the team? Sometimes I watch them and look at the bench. Who is going to change the game?

“There is youngsters like (Pule) Ekstein who has got that touch of brilliance but honestly we want to see passion and character in the field of play and that’s not what they are projecting at the moment,” concludes the Bafana Bafana legend.
