Luvuyo Memela, Augustine Mulenga to face Orlando Pirates in AmaZulu colours

Former Orlando Pirates duo Augustine Mulenga and Luvuyo Memela could make their AmaZulu debuts against their former club on Saturday.

Usuthu face the Buccaneers in an interesting first match of the DStv Premiership season after signing the former Pirates stars less than a week ago.

On Monday when they were unveiled as Usuthu's new weapons, both players said they preferred to focus on the top-four mission of club president Sandile Zungu rather than their former employers.

Zambia international Mulenga said he won't be going to Kings Park Stadium to prove any point but his focus will be on doing well for the team and for himself.

"I can't say that I'm going there to prove a point, all the people they know that I'm a good player, I can deliver any day and any time," Mulenga said.

"So I will just go there and enjoy football because football is part of me."

Memela also said he doesn't want the opening fixture to be about him, but rather to make sure Usuthu start well and reward the management for believing in their talent.

"Obviously when you're a player you want to achieve things, but what is important is about the team, not me, I want to focus on the team's ambitious and it's not about playing against one team," Memela explained.

"It's always nice to see people you know. I didn't know Mulenga would sign here. As I said, the most important thing for me is to make sure I do well for the team, nothing else."

Bad news for Usuthu coach Ayanda Dlamini is that Bongi Ntuli and Sphesihle Maduna have been ruled out of the match through injury. Kick-off at Kings Park Stadium is at 20h15 on Saturday.
