The loss leaves the Dube Birds in 13th spot and means they now have six losses this season so far, whilst Gordon Igesund’s men go up to seventh.
The first half didn’t produce the fireworks it was expected to, with the first 10 minutes dominated by fouls from both sides.
However, United were the first side to attack as David Mathebula unleashed a shot on 25 minutes, but it went wide of Greg Etafia’s upright.
Two minutes later defender Sibusiso Khumalo also piled the pressure on the Birds, but Lerato Chabangu blocked his attempt.
Igesund needed some creativity in the midfield and took off Thamsanqa Teyise for Bennett Chenene and, after five minutes, his charges found the net courtesy of Wome. An assist by Dino Ndlovu allowed the Togolese international to convert with his right foot.
The second half saw the hosts introduce Dikgang Mabalane, Siyabonga Nomvete and Lefa Tsutsulupa, but the visitors stood firm in their defending.
Just like the first stanza, the second half didn’t produce breathtaking action as the Birds tried to manoeuvre in the middle of the park with the help of Tsutsulupa, but their efforts could not trouble Ronwen Williams.
