Ramolesa: When a hunter became the hunted

In this edition of My Welcome To The League Moment, former Bloemfontein Celtic right-winger Lebo Ramolesa tells KickOff about his duel with ex-Kaizer Chiefs left-back Punch Masenamela.

Ramosela is currently hosting an Under-21 soccer tournament that will be played from the 15th to the 16th of December in his hometown of Turfloop near the University.

Ramolesa says he will not forget the day his close friend Punch Masenamela threw away their friendship once the match got away that day.

"If you were watching that game, you'd swear me and Punch Masenamela it was the first time we were seeing each other when in truth we were friends," Ramolesa tells KickOff.com.

"Do you remember Punch Masenamela at Chiefs? He was hot and too strong. I was playing right wing for Celtic and he was playing left-back for Chiefs. That guy made me run that day in Bloemfontein in 2009.

"I ended up asking him, 'Warra, why are you doing this to me? That's what we Pedi guys call each other.

"His response was, 'Warra, you see, once we are here, we don't know each other, we are enemies, and we will be friends again after the match', I couldn't believe what my ears were hearing.

"Ngathwala kanzima lelo langa. He won every ball we fought for. As a winger, I was supposed to attack him, but I guess it was the case of the hunter becoming the hunted," he said.

"I'm not sure what Punch ate that day, but he surely turned me into a defender.

"You know, once your opponents manage to beat you 3-1, you must know you have a tough day in the office.

"After the game, Punch couldn't stop  laughing at me."
