snl24.com/kickoff earlier reported that the stadium will re-open on Wednesday after it was closed for renovations in 2011 and the opening match will be between Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns on the same day at 19h30.
“We will provide the latest figures as soon as possible and R340-million is the latest cost update. The capacity of the stadium is 18 000,” the Departments says.
“There are new VIP and media suites, a video operations centre (VOC) to monitor crowd movement in and around the stadium, kiosks for informal traders, revamped tennis courts, paving in and around the stadium, new running track, water-efficient irrigation system that directs rain water to a special pond that is used to maintain the grass, new security offices, new perimeter fencing and access turnstiles… The number of work opportunities created is 541,”
Furthermore, the Mangaung Metro is expected to make a determination whether the stadium would belong to Bloemfontein Celtic and be renamed the Rantlai Petrus Molemela Stadium in honour of Celtic’s Honorary Life President.
