Chiefs stretch winless run to four matches

Kaizer Chiefs failed to get back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership following a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Saturday evening.

After the loss to Golden Arrows, the Amakhosi featured three changes where Bradley Cross, Pule Mmodi and Wandile Duba replaced Edmilson Dove, Thabo Cele and Ashley Du Preez.

Chiefs pushed for a strong start and saw a free-kick from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo following a foul on Duba put opposing goalkeeper Ira Tape in a spot of bother.

The Amakhosi enjoyed more bright moments later after a cross from Duba picked out Lilepo who volleyed well wide from inside the six-yard area.

Galaxy began to find rhythm following a lukewarm start and very nearly had the advantage when Dzenan Zajmovic dragged a delivery from Thamsanqa Masiya well off target.

Although, the Soweto giants seized control ten minutes to halftime after Duba latched onto a rebound from Tape following Sirino's shot and tapped in finished from a tight angle.

Rockets were inspired after the break and targeted a swift response through a header in the area by Victor Letsoalo following Puso Dithejane's cross, but Bruce Bvuma parried.

Sirino came close to doubling their lead five minutes after the resumption with a speculative effort from outside the box, but he slammed well beyond target.

The Rockets once again threatened to draw level a little later through a well-taken effort from a promising area by Dithejane, but he fluffed his lines.

Galaxy changed up their attack towards the final stages and summoned Sphiwe Mahlangu off the bench to fill in for Letsoalo.

The Rockets were level with nine minutes to go after Mlungisi Mbunjana guided a loose ball into the back of the net after a poor clearance by Edmilson Dove.

Chiefs couldn't regain the lead in the closing stages and were lucky not to lose it all after Dithejane ballooned his effort in second-half stoppage time, leaving the two sides to settle for a point a piece.
