Shakes Mashaba questions SAFA's Bafana Bafana coach criteria

Mashaba believes the Association has a vendetta against him as they have no reason not to include him in the list of candidates that have been earmarked for the hotseat.

SAFA have been meeting this week to discuss the appointment of a new head coach to lead the nation's World Cup qualifying campaign following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki.

But Mashaba, one of the most successful head coaches in the history of the national team based on statistics, has questioned what's happening in the boardrooms.

"I'm stunned about SAFA's criteria of selecting coaches," Mashaba tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"Their criteria is very questionable. I mean in the past two weeks we now hear all these names, Carlos Queiroz whatever... and if you look at all those guys there is nothing they've done so far. If that is the case, I also need a chance.

"Ya they mustn't use Danny Jordaan's method of sacking me to lock me out, that's all. Because I haven't heard them talking of a good person, what I only hear they are approaching people, and the flight is going to Egypt to talk to Pitso and all that. You want to tell me is the country that starved on coaching?

"But I'm saying, all the names that are coming through, I also deserve to be there. Personally I have done nothing wrong, I was on the achieving move when Danny Jordaan and his mafia... underline mafia... sat down and started doing this... there's nothing wrong I've done at SAFA, just for the sake of not wanting to talk to media, that's all.

"I'm disappointed about their criteria. Can you imagine now we need a national team coach but they are now talking about a technical director? I mean we are in trouble, we are going to the World Cup Qualifiers and they are still talking about a technical director.

"It's not that I've failed, it's the grudges... personal actually, not work-related, personally."
