BREAKING: Deserved rewards for Billiat!

The impressive season that Khama Billiat has had back home after the end of his stint at Kaizer Chiefs has come with just rewards.

Billiat has spent this calendar year back home in Zimbabwe playing for Yadah FC in what was his first full season playing top-flight football in his country of birth.

As the highest earner in the league, he didn't disappoint, ending the season with 13 goals plus just as many assists playing for a modest club in the bottom half of the standings.

All this has happened with a return to the national team.

The good showing from Billiat has ignited interest from Betway Premiership clubs.

His contract runs up at the end of the year and his return to the PSL will be made easier by the fact that he holds a South African ID.

As a stamp of approval, Billiat has been named amongst the best XI players this season in Zimbabwe, known as the Soccer Stars of the Year.

The Soccer Star of the Year (Footballer of the Season) will then be selected from those XI and Billiat is already guaranteed a place in the top three.

The accolade is the equivalent of the Player of the Season and plenty of the previous winners have played across the Limpopo River after winning it.

That long list of previous winners has Peter Ndlovu, Wilfred Mugeyi, Agent Sawu, Tauya Murewa, Stewart Murisa, Maxwell Dube, Dazzy Kapenya, Energy Murambadoro, Josephy Kamwendo, Evans Chikwaikwai, Ramson Zhuwawo, Washington Arubi, Denver Mukamba, Danny Phiri, Rodwell Chinyengetere, and Walter Musona.

However, it is only Mugeyi who has won both the two big awards – the Soccer Star of the Year in Zimbabwe (1992) playing for Black Aces and the PSL Player of the Season in South Africa (1996/97) at Bush Bucks.

Billiat won the 2025/16 Footballer of the Season award while at Mamelodi Sundowns and will join Mugeyi in winning both if he gets the Zim award this year.
