Ngezana on Man Utd experience: I was a fan in the tunnel

FCSB star Siyabonga Ngezana has shared his thoughts on the experience of playing against English Premier League giants Manchester United.

Ngezana joined FCSB from the Glamour Boys at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, and since then, he has been showcasing remarkable performances in the Romanian SuperLiga.

After spending seven years with Amakhosi, where he was unable to secure any significant trophy, the 27-year-old player has claimed the league championship and a cup competition with FCSB.

Nonetheless, one of the most memorable experiences for the Sebokeng-born defender in Europe was when he faced the Red Devils in the UEFA Europa League group stages earlier this year.

Even though the Red and Blues fell 2-0 to Man United and were eliminated from the tournament after being beaten 7-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16 by French Ligue 1 team Lyon, Ngezana felt satisfied to have faced a team he says he supports in Europe.

"Manchester United is the team that I support in Europe and when I found that I will be playing against the team that I support in, I was going crazy from day one," Ngezana said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.

"It was the biggest game not only for me but for everyone even at home, people who know that I love Man United. It was also a motivation. In each and every training session I was giving my 100% because at the back of my mind I knew that I was going to play with United.

"I wanted to be in the first eleven because no one was guaranteed that he was going to play because in that day the coach was going to pick best players for the game.

"I always wanted to be in the first eleven and fortunately things worked together I played and it was a good experience," he added.

"Funny enough, in the tunnel, I became a fan because I was like now I am bumping into Bruno Fernandes, the guy I used to watch playing and now he is next to me, now I am their rival and a fan at the same time, it was a good experience."
