Kgagelo Chauke: South African midfielder called up to England U-18 squad

Chauke, 17, has earned rave reviews within Staplewood, the academy system the likes of Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott were developed in before their Premier League breakthroughs.

Having been promoted to the reserve team (U-23s) and being registered in the Premier League squad for the 2020/21 season by head coach Ralph Hassenhuttl, he's been touted for a first-team breakthrough within the next 12 months.

Despite signalling his desire to represent South Africa at international level, his swift progression has caught the eye of England national team selectors, with Kevin Betsy naming him in his latest development squad.

The Saints teenager who's scored one goal in eight games this season was called up alongside Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele - who can represent Scotland and Ivory Coast - during the recent FIFA International break.

While Chauke has yet to earn an official cap at youth level, should he progress within the junior ranks, he will remain eligible to represent Bafana unless he features three times for the senior team in competitive fixtures.
