A focus on the Orlando Pirates' most reserved star

Some players command the attention but some do their magic in silence. Here's a look at Orlando Pirates' most-reserved star Sandile Mthethwa.

The story

Having spent several seasons away from Orlando Stadium, you could be forgiven for knowing very little about the versatile player. Mthethwa joined the Sea Robbers in 2016 but he has been sent out on several loan spells to Richards Bay FC and Chippa United since.

It seems that this season he will finally get a chance at the Buccanneers as he remains with his parent club. But with the transfer window still open, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be retained by the new boss Jose Riveiro.

Nevertheless, it feels fitting to have a closer look at what the star is all about both on and off the pitch as he seems to be the most laid-back character in the Bucs squad.

A hidden gem or an underachieving talent?

Perhaps it may come as a surprise to some, but the defender was highly-rated in his youth. The 25-year-old is efficient in multiple positions as he can play at the heart of defence, right-back, and defensive midfield.

Standing at 1.85 metres tall, the KwaZulu-Natal-born baller has quite the presence off the pitch as well. Often dressed in urban streetwear, you'll often find him rocking a pair of Nike kicks, including some of their best sneakers such as the Air Max 90, the Dunk Low, and the Air Max 270 React among his other Swoosh shoes.

Your thoughts, please?

Do you think Mthethwa is ready to step up in the Pirates squad?
