SuperSport coach fires warning over Saile

SuperSport United assistant coach Andre Arendse has issued a warning over winger Christian Saile, who is on loan from Kaizer Chiefs.

The speedy winger is spending the rest of the season on loan at Matsantsanta after struggling for playing minutes at Chiefs.

Saile has hit the ground running under Gavin Hunt, already with two goals from seven appearances under his belt - more than he managed at Chiefs with the same matches.

Despite the criticism directed at Saile, speaking at the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals launch, Arendse had plenty of praise for the attacker, warning that there is more to come from the Congolese.

"There's a lot of quality in Christian, and we needed to find his quality when he first came and look at him in different positions to see where he's most comfortable," Arendse said.

"For example, if you saw the game against Kaizer Chiefs, he played out some really good wing play. You can see with the goal he scored where he joined from wider areas, exposing their defence at times.

"And that's where he's at his best, he's a very strong player because he can hold up play and hold people off. He's got an eye for goal; what we've discovered is that he bounces off confidence.

"If you show confidence in a player like that, he's ready and willing to give his all. So he's going through a little bit of up and down at the moment, performance-wise.

"The job that we have ahead of us is to get him into a consistent mode, and once we do that, I think he's a striker that will fire in all cylinders.

"If he continues like that with a good attitude and mindset, I think he will have way more goals in him by the end of the season."
