In this edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to die-hard SuperSport United supporter Wesley Mashiachidi about his long-standing relationship with the club.
Maschiachidi reveals what made him stop supporting neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns and switch to United.
Name of supporter?
"My name is Wesley Mashiachidi, I'm with SAPS, and I'm a police officer. I'm based in Atteridgeville."
Club supported?
"It was Mamelodi Sundowns, I fell in love with SuperSport after playing in a league in Atteridgeville that was under them. SuperSport sponsored that local league.
That's where I developed some love for them."
How long supported?
"I've been a fan since 2010."
Are you happy with the bosses?
"Yes, I am happy, even though things are no longer the same. Nowadays football is all about money, you produce a player today, and tomorrow he moves to another team."
Are you happy with the coach?
"I can't blame the coach. There's been a huge change since he came. As soon as he produces some player the big guns come and take him.
"The team was struggling before Gavin Hunt took over, but now because of him the team is struggling."
Are you happy with the players?
"Yes, I am happy, especially now that we have Keagan Allen from Moroka Swallows. With him on board, I feel like we can compete with any club now."
Who do you want them to sign?
"I wanted Ben Motshwari to give our midfield a balance, there's been a huge gap in that position since Sipho Mbule and Teboho Mokoena left."
Your message to the team?
"They must just keep on going, in football anything is possible. The gap between us and the log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns is too small. Just take each game as it comes."
