Clinton Larsen has Chippa United contract offer on the table

The Chilli Boys under Larsen have enjoyed their best form this season which has led them to the Nedbank Cup semifinals after beating the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits on their way.

After defeating AmaZulu 1-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday he was asked about his future in the Eastern Cape.

"There is a contract on the table but I need to first understand the team and focus on the on-field matters, I always sign short-term deals first before committing, I did that with Arrows," Larsen explained.

"We will sit down with the chairman once we are safe in the league, I've already told him that I'm happy with his support, the response from the players and the fans of the club so I'm positive."

On surviving in the Absa Premiership with five games remaining, Larsen believes that to remain in the top league they will have to get maximum points and not worry about other teams.

"Winning all our remaining matches will save us, this result [against AmaZulu] must be followed by another positive result. We won't worry about other teams but I can tell you this relegation zone is going down to the wire," he said.

Larsen also revealed that being in the Nedbank Cup helped him to get to know most of the players and get time to try different tactics to transform the team.

"I used the Nedbank Cup to look at the team. When I joined I wanted to get many games so we can be able to understand each other and try different players," he added.
