Spurs are currently rooted to the bottom of the National First Division table with only four matches remaining to save their status before they are relegated to play in the amateur ABC Motsepe League.
"He will be assisting [Themba] Mafu, they will be working together," Spurs CEO Freddy Mapulane confirms to snl24.com/kickoff.
"Ja look he is not a messiah, he is not here to perform miracles. But as a young, up-and-coming coach we had to... in this situation we are in, really the players they need that energy of being young so that he can share it with them because he was in this situation once while he was playing.
"So I think he knows better how to treat and handle the players. He has signed until the end of the season. It happened today."
Spurs sacked Shakes Mashaba last week and have turned to the 34-year-old former Fulham, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City midfielder to turn around their fortunes.
