Vuyo Mere prepared to go down with Platinum Stars to the National First Division

Mere, a player who has given his all in the colours of Dikwena, says he will lead the club until he is told to stop.

Just a few years ago, Stars were on top of the world after winning the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout and, along the way, managed to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

But the club have struggled in recent seasons and were relegated after losing the PSL Playoffs. They need to rebuild, but they still need the experience of someone like Mere, who can guide the younger players in the team.

“I will leave everything in God's hands," Mere tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“I'm still a Platinum Stars player and I will lead this team till I'm told to stop.

"If it’s God's will then let it be my brother [to go down to the NFD with the team],” concludes the 34-year-old.

Mere, who made his PSL debut in 2001 with Hellenic, joined Stars in 2011 after a spell with Mamelodi Sundowns. They helped revive his career and he is highly respected at the club for his contribution.
