The qualifying campaign began in September 2024, with 48 African countries competing for a spot in the 35th edition of the continent's biggest showpiece, which is set to be hosted in Morocco.

There was jubilation for the likes of Zimbabwe and Botswana, as they made a return to the tournament, with the latter ending a 12-year absence from the competition, while the former also returns after missing the previous two editions of the competition in Cameroon and the Ivory Coast earlier this year.

Hosts Morocco, Comoros, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Angola, Zambia, DR Congo, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal and Bafana Bafana finished top of their qualifying groups.

South Africa were among only eight teams to end their qualifying campaign without defeat, as they wrapped up their fixtures with a dominant 3-0 win over South Sudan in Cape Town on Tuesday evening.

Hugo Broos' side netted 16 goals during the qualifiers, with only Morocco having a better record after scoring 26 times in six matches.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of this action-packed qualifying round was Ghana's failure to secure a place at AFCON for the first time since 2004.

The Black Stars failed to win a single game during this phase, ending a disastrous run of three defeats and three draws in six games.

Here are all 24 nations that will be at AFCON 2025:

Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Mali, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
