A top African nation is now said to be actively pursuing a Chelsea star in the hope of convincing him to switch his nationality.
The Nigeria national team is attempting to convince a Blues defender to represent them at international level, according to reports.

It is not uncommon for players to trade their European allegiance in favour of African nations, with the likes of Brahim Diaz, Axel Tuanzebe, Inaki Williams, and Ademola Lookman having done so in recent months.
According to Africa Foot United, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) wants Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo to represent the Super Eagles.
This comes after it had emerged that the nation's former manager, Jose Peseiro, had previously travelled to the United Kingdom to convince the then-Fulham star to consider representing the west African giants.
"He wasn't ready at that time," a source close to the NFF told ESPN.
"If he wants to make the switch now, he knows what to do."
Born in London, Adarabioyo has Nigerian citizenship, although he represented England youth teams from U16 to U19.
In July, the centre-back joined Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham, penning a deal until June 2028.

Adarabioyo is a graduate of the Manchester City academy, and has also had stints at West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.
