Pitso's ex-director: Al Ahly coach must go!

A former Al Ahly director has urged the Egyptian giants to sack coach Marcel Koller after being eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday night.

The Brazilians advanced via the away-goals rule after the 1-1 draw in the second leg on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium.

The defending champions had lead for most of the game until an own goal from Yasser Ibrahim on 90 minutes ended their hopes of reaching another Champions League final.

Former Al Ahly director Sayed Abdel Hafeez feels it's time for the Swiss coach to leave.

"Any Al Ahly fan that the club calls upon will respond to their call no matter the circumstances, but out of politeness and respect for those who hold these positions, it is shameful to talk about this matter," he said, as per Kooora.

"I was raised within Al Ahly since 1989 and learned a lot from the club's legends and icons, both personally and athletically. However, I have financial and contractual obligations, and there are penalty clauses in my contract.

"We must respect those who work at Al Ahly, and I am committed to my contracts at the moment."

He pointed out, "The departure of Marcel Koller (Al Ahly's coach) is in the team's best interest. The team conceded 11 goals in the final minutes, which is a negative point."

"The last quarter of an hour witnessed Al Ahly's decline, which was caused by the physical decline of the team's players."
