Zamalek were crowned CAF Super Cup champions after overcoming fierce rivals Al Ahly on penalties.
Red Devils coach Marcel Koller included Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau in the starting line-up, looking to continue his lively start to the new season, having already scored twice in the Champions League.
Al Ahly have won the last five of the six meetings between the two Egyptian rivals, while Zamalek's last cup win against their rivals dates back to 2022.
The Confederation Cup winners had a couple chances in the early parts of the first half, with attackers Nassr Maher and Hamza Mathlouthi going closest in the opening 20 minutes.
With the sides seemingly heading to the break all square, Koller's side were awarded a penalty after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which allowed Wessam Abou Ali to step up and convert the opening goal.
Zamalek looked to restore parity after the break, as Konrad Michalak saw his effort blocked after 64 minutes before Zizo also tried his luck from distance a minute later.
The White Knight got their reward in the 77th minute after Nasery Mansy turned home a cross from Omar Gaber.
With no extra-time available, the game went to a penalty shoo-out where Zamalek showed their composure to win 4-3 after Al Ahly missed two of their spot-kicks.
